Trained in the art of authentic Thai cuisine by M.L. Sirichalerm Savsti (McDang), Thailand’s most celebrated chef, Chef Hong Thaimee has worked in some of New York City’s best restaurants, including Kittichai, Jean George’s Spice Market, Jean George’s Perry St, as well as the 5 star Mandarin Oriental Dhara Hotel in her hometown of Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Before finding her way to the kitchens of New York, Chef Hong was a model and television personality in Thailand and the face of brands such as Pantene and Nescafe across Southeast Asia.
Today, Chef Hong leads the team of Ngam, ranked the number one Thai restaurant in NYC by The Village Voice in 2013. She has appeared on the Cooking Channel, Food Network, Good Day New York, and the CBS2 Morning Show. She has also been featured in Saveur Magazine, Food & Wine Magazine, The New York Times, The New Yorker, and The Wall Street Journal. In 2013, Hong challenged Iron Chef Bobby Flay to an exciting Kitchen Stadium duel on Food Network’s, Iron Chef America. Hong has also been recognized by Gotham Magazine as one of the “Beautiful Faces of New York” and frequently takes part in philanthropic events around the city.
In the fall of 2015, Rizzoli International published Chef Hong’s first cookbook, “True Thai.”
